002. inCreationWithCreator | God's Voice > Fear | Gaby P. | 02.27.26
What better way to hear from the Creator than in His creation ? I am out here in nature to shut out all the noise and hear from God for a particular assignment He gave me. My birthday’s within a week too, it’s a nice staycation with me, myself & God to get away from the hustle & bustle for a quick minute. He used a woodpecker to wake me up this morning, twice for that matter lol. Sounded like someone was knocking downstairs, only to find nobody there (I realized it was the woodpecker a few hours later). Got to extend my time in praise + worship this a.m. Followed by illumination from the Word on the patio deck, accompanied by a delicious (melting) Gansito and ginger tea (balance, amirite?). The sun was beaming, snow was melting, tall trees all around, wind was still, slight breeze here & there – serene, wonderful.
Here I sit in the afternoon at the dining table now with curtains open and sunlight through the umteen windows, chirping and singing from the birds (and pecking from woodpecker lol) as the melody that replaces the worship music. I come to the realization that I am not only meeting with and hearing from my Maker, but I am confronting what He did not make me for — anxiety & procrastination — both rooted in fear. I am determined to leave in another manner in which I came. I leave these ungodly spirits here at this mountain, in the mighTy name of Jesus. The verse that comes to mind is in 2 Timothy 1:7 –
“For God did not give us a spirit of fear or timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline (sound mind, self-control).”
For context, Paul writes a second letter to Timothy when imprisoned for a second time in Rome, knowing that his time was coming to an end. He exhorts & urges Timothy to stand firm in the faith, which is very much applicable to all of us believers in present day. In the verse before, we are reminded “to fan into flame the gift of God”. The following verse is to “not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved & called us to a holy calling, not because of our works, but because of his own purpose and grace”, which he predestined before our time (verse 9) !
All right, cool cool cool, but what’s it all mean, Gabs ?
Glad you asked…
It signifies that Timothy as well as all believers, can endure for the reason that God himself dwells in us by His Spirit. We are able to not only confront suffering, but endure and overcome it because God gives us power, love and self-control to replace any forms of fear and timidity. Thank Youuu, Jesusss!
To fan into flame the gifts reminds us to grow and strengthen in our gifts. I don’t know about you, but this really helps me to get out of my own way. It helps me to fix my eyes steadfast on WHO Christ is and all He did on the cross. At the end of the day, it is not about you or I, it is A L L about our Lord and Savior - “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” — Hebrews 12:2.
Another factor that brought me up to the mountains is how overstimulated I was feeling. We are in a new digital era and there is an immense amount of information every.single.place.we.look. I’m not saying that all information is bad, no of course not. There is plenty of valuable content in ministry, fitness, nutrition and more that I found influential and intriguing, except it was a season to prioritize more important tasks at hand, such as the assignments He called me to. If it’s not serving the purpose God has over me, then, “buh-byeee”.
For this matter, I was led to Psalm 46. In this hymn, Zion is celebrated as a special city and God pledged himself to her that through her, she will be blessed. The first half of the Psalm in verses 1-7, we are told that the people of God are secure even in chaotic times. I know, you know, chaotic times is all around us.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We will not fear though the earth gives way,” Psalm 46:1-2b.
“The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” v. 7 && 11 (double portion)
A M E N N N . . . God is our ultimate security when the world we live in falls apart! We tend to place our trust in temporary comforts such as careers, relationships, financial stability, friends, etc., but they will neva eva…eva eva eva eva ! serve as our sufficient refuge or foundation. God’s help is the assurance of our hope, even if the mountains crumble into the sea (v. 2). Just as He spoke it all into existence in Genesis 1, by His word, He can disintegrate it — “nations rage, kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts,” (v. 6).
Sis, do not lack the security of God’s presence and the confidence of his help. There will be a day when Jesus will put an end to all of the evil rage in this world. At His command, wars will cease (v.9). He will be exalted in all the earth.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth” v. 10
God is mighty to save and is steadfast in His love.
Sis, be anchored in the truth of the gospel and find your refuge in Christ Jesus.
Reflect and make room to hear from God:
1. What "noise" in my life is drowning out God's voice, and what would it look like to intentionally step away from it?
2. Where am I placing my security — in temporary comforts or in God's unchanging presence?
3. What fear or procrastination is God calling me to leave behind today?
– Prayer –
Lord, thank You for being our refuge and strength — especially in the chaos. Help us to be still, to hear Your voice, and to trust You over our fears. Fan into flame the gifts You've placed in us, and remind us that it is not by our own power, but by Your Spirit. May we leave behind every ungodly spirit and walk forward anchored in Your truth. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
